Birthday pain

Journal Entry: Fri Jul 11, 2008, 6:54 AM
For the last couple of years, I've grown to dread celebrating my birthdays...with my parents.

I love my folks but sometimes they can be really insensitive.

They use my birthday as an excuse to
blow money on stuff they like.
For example, about 3 years ago they said that since it was my bday I get to choose where we eat out for dinner.

I asked if we could go to one of those mid-priced Japanese diner where they give great value for money. But my dad in the mood for roasted chicken immediately said, "You can eat Japanese food anyday" and he added a remark 'like isn't Japanese stuff expensive? Let's go to our usual place and have roast chicken.'

My sis who is more understanding took my side. So we went to the diner, and my dad who sat across from me grumbled loudly through out the whole meal with a black face.

After that I count my blessings every year when my parents forget my birthday.

Job Hazards

Journal Entry: Tue Jun 10, 2008, 4:22 AM
In an effort to go green, my company encourages staff to recycle the paper that we use aka use both sides before it hits the bin.

Now, the bulk of my time is spent sorting through and filing paper work. One fine day, while checking a stack of expenses I flipped the paper to check the other side and got a full face of manga.

My thought processes at that time when something like this:-

"$4.23...5% tax...Very bishounen looking girl saying to boy'you got a thing for men that's why you are with me'..."

About here I think my brain short circuited and I stared at the paper for 3 minutes before quickly flipping it into the finished pile.

Man, never thought a deskjob came with this type of hazards

My house is a guesthouse T_T

Journal Entry: Sun May 25, 2008, 6:06 AM
Oh god, my place is resembling a guesthouse~!

My dad been diag. with cancer but we are optimistic about treatment.

However, despite his illness, dear old dad refuses to eat his vegetables which is very disheartening esp since we put in alot of effort into cooking it.

He'll do something like ask us to pass the remote control for the TV cause he is 'too tired by the illness to get the control'. But he has the energy to sneak out just before lunch to the nearest McDonald to get ice cream~!!!

Relatives are coming in every weekend and sometimes on weekdays too. They come without so much as a phone call, brings all those unhealthy food that they KNOW he cannot eat and stays for hours on end. Oh god, haven't it cross their minds that some of us REST on Sat and Sun??? And maybe SLEEP IN?!!!!

And then there are the in-laws problem. Both sets of relatives from two sides of my parents being in the same building do not make a happy mixture. Eg. Uncle from dad's side poured away the herb mixture that my aunt from mum's side made that was suppose to be good against Cancer.

Oh lord almightly please have mercy on our household. This might sound abit ungrateful but pleaseeeee we haven't seen some of them for ages. And they suddenly turn up??? What they think this is -a sideshow?!

Manga Studio

Journal Entry: Tue May 6, 2008, 11:25 PM
*Screams, tears at hair*

As part of my current course assignment, I'm suppose to study the software Manga Studio Debut.

And to be honest, it's driving me up a wall at tall as Metroplex!

Why?

Firstly the interface is so crowded with a hundred and one windows open at all time. The workspace has no place at all to draw. Unforunately, if I close the windows eventually I found I'll have to reopen them to get some minor edit in.

Secondly, unable to customise the fill tool. In Corel Photopaint(my usual software), it's my joy to play around with the gradient fill tool in order to get the prefect effect for the piece I work was on at that moment.

Thirdly, oh god why doesn't what appear on the screen appear the same when I export it to jpeg for upload to DA?! All the greys I've worked so hard to make were all giant dots. Waahhhhhh

And as to what I'm working on at the moment, it's the War of the Spiderqueen page 9 :P

Transformer Mosaic bday

Journal Entry: Sun Apr 13, 2008, 7:49 PM
*Stream smoking out of ears*

Finally finished my part of the two mosaics for the TF:Mosaic 1st Bday project.

First one features Ratchet (writer: Optimus Frimal),
second is Hot Rod (writer: Jediflaherty).

Earlier I had joined the cover art contest for the first round of PAH and cover contest. I've noticed after the events that my skills have showed quite abit of improvement compared to before the contest.

As both of the mosaics this time were challenging in their own right, I hope that my works will show improvement in the near future.

On a sidenote, I went all out but it took up more of my time then I've estimated so it's a good thing I had decided early on that I would do a max of 2.
But that also means I need to buck up on my speed.
