There are so many tutorials for the simplest of
tasks in games these days.
And I am not talking about strategy games here.
Every step of the game the gamer must pause
for a freaking tutorial.
Why in the world would I need a tutorial to tell
me that a missile fired at me by a monster is
a bad thing?!
And a treasure chest with my character's
mugshot on it to me is an obviously hint
that I am suppose to get it.
There is no need for a time wasting
tutorial for it!
In the worst case scenario, the game
will assign an assistant character to your hero
which bears an uncanny family likeness
to the Microsoft paperclip assistant, mouthiness x 10
So either the new generation of gamers are retarded or
the game company think the older generation of gamers
are senile!
Ah, however there is a catch. For the shocking thing is
that it might actually be needed. For I have observed
the kids trying out the demos outside the game store
that seriously need to be taught how to play these
games.
(When I say kids here I'm talking about those around 10 years old
and in their early teens. )
